Why This Matters
Land-system change (deforestation, agricultural expansion, urbanization) drives biodiversity loss, disrupts water cycles, reduces carbon storage, and alters regional climates. Forests store ~45% of terrestrial carbon and provide habitat for 80% of terrestrial species.
